I Can Fly

The boys repeatedly "flew" of the dock into the water... hoping I would get the perfect picture of them. We did this over and over and over.

The eagle is even soring with Trevor in this picture. While the boys were flying, Griffin was blowing bubbles (for the first time) and throwing rocks in the cove. After he got bored with throwing rock, he threw himself in the cove... only to find out he did not like that too much.

Even more spectacular then the boys flying, was the quick glimpse of brotherly love I caught. It lasted about as long as the sunset...ha!

Eighteen Months

Griffin is eighteen months old today, hello, EIGHTEEN MONTHS!!! I know I say this every month on the 29th, but really, Where has the time gone? I can remember like it was yesterday the joy I felt the first time he smiled, the tears I shed the first time he said "mama", the pain I felt the first time he had a shot, the excitement I felt the first time he giggled... I wish I could go back and experience some of these moments again. It is so hard to let go of the baby! I want to just pick him up and love him and have time stands still. I so miss the baby he was but I also enjoy so much the little boy with a huge personality that he is becoming. He is truly a delight. Griffin loves life and loves to explore his world. He is a very happy, go with the flow, sweet little boy.
Griffin continues to be a BIG boy. At eighteen months, he weighs 32.5 pounds (100%) and is 34 inches long (90%). I have been worried that Griffin is not extremely verbal. He says about 12-15 words, but he does not use two words together. His pediatrician told me that I have nothing to worry about. He is not worried at all about Griffin's milestones and he believes Griffin will have a word explosion in the next few months.

At eighteen months, he still can't get enough of Blues Clues. He dances in circles with his arms going to the songs on the show. He is always asking for "Blue".
He loves to grab your hand and take you to where he wants to go or to what he wants you to get for him. It is so sweet to have is chubby little fingers wrapped around your index finger.

He is constantly on the go. He loves to explore everything. You can't take your eyes off of him for one minute... he loves to climb, run and open and close things. He loves to play. He will play with his toys for long periods of time. He loves putting toys on his head, on his feet, and over his mouth. Some of his favorite toys are the stacking cups, the grocery cart and his ball popper. He loves to throw balls and swing bats. Griffin loves to be outside. He likes to swing and slide. He is finally enjoying water and loves playing in the sand. He enjoys ride on and push toys.Griffin also enjoys quiet time. He loves looking at books and cuddling. He still enjoys sitting on laps and likes to be held to fall asleep.

Happy Eighteen Months, Griffin. You sure have made the last eighteen months better than Daddy, your big brothers and I could ever imagine. We love you!

Blog Hop- favorite kid picture

The theme of today's blog hop is a favorite picture of kids. It is so hard to pick just one! I can't say this is my absolute favorite but this is one of my favorite kid pictures. Only a child would let a long bumpy cow tong lick him. Nolan just loves animals and here are some cows loving back on him!!!I love how his chest is all pushed out and the cows tong is curling up.

Here are a few more cow pictures from the same day. The cows could not get enough of Nolan's sweet skin.

Half of the Pajamas

Rob baths and dresses Griffin for bed every night. I have been noticing a trend where Griffin will only have the top of his pajamas on or only the bottom of his pajamas on. Rob told me that it is easier because Griffin is just to squirmy to get both pieces on. I think it is quite funny... it is always a mystery as to if he will be wearing the bottoms or if he will be wearing the top. Hopefully by Winter he will be wearing both pieces... it gets cold in New England.
This night he had only bottoms on:

Last night, it was just a top:

Smores

Last night we made some delicious smores. Daddy is in NYC golfing in a tournament. We miss him but we have had a great weekend. Yesterday we went out to lunch and did some shopping. We ordered pizza to be delivered and made smores with our special ingredient! Thanks Gia and Debbie for hanging out with us.

Our special ingredient is using Reeses peanut butter cups in place of the chocolate. It makes them so yummy!

Nolan is giving the thumbs up to the perfect smores!

Trevor giving mom a little attitude. It all goes along with his new found "teen like" behavior!

And, Griffin wondering why his smore is not quite as good as the rest of our were.

What a perfect summer evening!

Eight going on Eighteen - Part II

Today Trevor came home from camp asking for an iphone. Mom, pretty please will you get me an iphone... what is going on with this kid. I thought I had about 4 more years before he would start asking for cell phones and searching on youtube. Wow, I think my eight year old has turned into a teenager overnight. Can I please have my eight year old, sports enthusiast, Harry Potter reading, ds playing, innocent, fun loving kid back!

Eight going on Eighteen

Trevor came home from camp today and jumped on the computer. When I found him, he was on youtube searching for a muffin skit. I guess it is a skit that his friends imitate. He is now imitating it, too. He is walking around saying "What do you want for breakfast, Donny? Muffins! At Cunningham muffins, we make the best muffins ever. Try our exciting new flavors..." The voice he is using is rather funny. After watching the skit, he was not all that impressed. According to him, it was only kind of funny, but still funny enough to keep repeating. Actually, I think the only part the kids find entertaining is the beginning. This kid is growing up too fast. Faster than I ever imagined. The other day he was singing a Jackson 5 song... wow, how does he even know about the Jackson 5 and the songs they sang? It is amazing at eight that he is so immersed in pop culture! They learn quickly and they learn it all from their friends!

Beat!

Trevor is absolutely beat. Between sports camp, play dates, sleepovers, movies and swimming, Trevor is exhausted. I have been waking him every morning for camp and this is the response I get...This is an example how how tired he is (or at least tiredness is what I am blaming it on). Trevor's buddy that dropped him off at home from camp wanted him to come over and play. His buddy waited in his mom's car (in our driveway) while Trevor was supposed to come in, ask me if he could go play, drop off his bag and grab his DS. By the time he got to the front door, he had completely forgot! Five minutes later, Trevor's buddy's mom comes and knocks on the door asking if Trevor was coming over. This was the first I had heard of this plan. We asked Trevor and he had completely forgotten! Oh my... I hope this is due to be tired and not a personality trait of his! Can you say ABSENT MINDED!!!

Thankfully, next week he will have a break from camps. Hopefully, he will be able to relax and catch up on some much needed sleep!

Blog Hop - Recipe

I love the theme of this blog hop because I love to eat! As much as I love food, I am not a big fan of preparing food. I like to have someone else make the delicious food! It is so hard deciding on what recipe to share. I have so many favorites and I can't wait to find some new favorites! This is my most requested appetizer to serve at a party or get together. It always gets rave reviews and it looks very pretty and festive for the holidays. Best of all, it is super easy! The recipe is from Pampered Chef.

Baked Brie with Apples and Cranberries

Ingredients
1/2 cup apple, chopped
1/4 cup natural almonds, sliced
1/4 cup dried cranberries
1 Tablespoon brown sugar, packed
1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
1 Tablespoon butter or margarine, melted
1 round (8 ounces) Brie cheese

Preheat oven to 350F.
Coarsely chop apple with food processor. Combine apple, almonds, cranberries, brown sugar and cinnamon in small bowl and mix gently. Stir in butter just until ingredients are moistened.
Cut Brie in half horizontally. Place one half of Brie, rind side down, on pan. Spoon half of the apple mixture onto bottom half of Brue, spreading evenly. Top with remaining half of Brie, rind side up. Spoon remaining apple mixture over top. Bake 12-15 minutes, or until cheese is soft and just begins to melt. Serve with toasted French bread, apple wedges or assorted crackers.

I am so excited to read all the recipes. I am always looking for a good, quick, easy dinner recipe that my kids will eat. I am sure to find some at the hop!

Out Our Back Window.

This morning at about 6:30, as I was standing in the kitchen, I heard a lot of noise. I thought what is Rob doing, then I looked out the window to see this in my backyard! They probably did not appreciate that I was taking pictures while they were in crisis, but they seemed to have it somewhat under control and nobody was injured. I also tried to be sly with my camera. A truck pulled up and one of the passengers jumped in the balloon basket and got the balloon headed in the right direction. It was pretty interesting. The all had 2 way radio's and the truck must just kind of follow the balloon around. All ended well and it was very exciting to have a balloon in our yard!

Nolan's first visit from the Tooth Fairy!

Tonight, while eating corn at dinner, Nolan lost his first tooth. This is a HUGE deal for two reasons. First, for about 1.5 years now (since Trevor lost his first tooth) Nolan has had loose teeth (or at least he hoped he did). He often would have me feel his tooth to see if it was wiggly. He has wanted so bad, for so long, to have a tooth fall out. Well, tonight was the night. Secondly, I don't think this tooth was really quite ready to fall out. For one thing, it looks as more than just his tooth fell out. It looks like the entire root came out with it. Also, I have never seen so much blood from a lost tooth. (He is trying to hold his lips up, so we can see the space.)His mouth bleed for a good 40 minutes. He said it did not hurt and was grinning ear to ear through the blood. He was so happy to have lost this tooth that nothing could take away his excitement. He was so cute about it. I hope he is not disappointed in the morning when he sees how much money the tooth fairly left him. He told me that she was going to leave him $14.00. This picture is about 2 hours after the tooth fell out when the bleeding was finally all gone. When Nolan smiles, his top teeth do not show, so here he is trying to hold his lip up. This is the best I could get of the new gap in his mouth.
The tooth next to the gap is really loose, too. I think this visit from the tooth fairy and most likely the next one, are from a collision Nolan had with a friend while playing baseball on Tuesday. If you ask Nolan, he is glad the collision happened!

Sharing a Cone.

There are many times a day when Nolan terrorizes Griffin. He will pick Griffin up when he does not want to be picked up. Nolan will take a toy that Griffin is playing with just because Griffin is playing with it. He will stand in front of the TV because Griffin is trying to watch it. I am sure this is all normal sibling behavior. Nolan loves to get a rise out of people and his brother is not immune to this treatment. Nolan is also the sweetest, most giving, caring brother one could ask for. It is these moments that I treasure. Last night he was so sweet sharing his ice cream cone with his brother. I think Nolan got more enjoyment out of sharing the cone than he did in eating his ice cream.
