New Year!

I can't believe 2011 is going to be here tomorrow.  Where did 2010 go?  It was a good year.  Lots of fond memories with family and friends.  In 2010 we went on a family ski vacation that was loads of fun ( I think I skied for the first time in 10 years), we celebrated lots of birthdays, we went for a fun weekend at a indoor water park, Trevor got a palette expander and Nolan lost 2 front teeth (prematurely), Trevor competed in the world finals of Odyssey of the Mind in Michigan, Griffin started school and learned many new words, Rob got promoted at work, I started working after 9 years and so much more.

I look forward to 2011!  I look forward to an even more amazing year.  Trevor will be turning the big 10 (so hard to believe)!  We will be having a fun filled week in Mexico with family (that are friends) and friends (that are family).  Both Trevor and Nolan will be going to a brand new school for 5th and 3rd grade.  Trevor will continue to play soccer.  Nolan will make a big decision... football or hockey?  Griffin will be 3 years old (where has the time gone)!  And I am sure many more amazing days that I can't even predict now!

May the memories of 2010 be forever in your heart and may the days of 2011 be everything you hope it to be.
Happy, Happy New Year to all!

Christmas 2010

We had a wonderful Christmas.  It was a long day of family, food, laughs, fun and gifts.  I say it often {or maybe not often enough} but I am so incredibly blessed to have the family that I have.  I love the holidays and I am always kind of sad to see them go.
The kids had a great Christmas.  Trevor and Nolan slept into the reasonable hour of 6 and we had to wake Griffin at 7.  Griffin was so cute Christmas morning.  He said please and thank you with every single gift.  So sweet.  The boys have been busy playing with all their new electronic devices and toys.

Thanks to all my family for making Christmas so special!

Let It Snow.

The weather outside is frightful
But the fire is so delightful.
And since we've no place to go,
Let it Snow!
Let it Snow!

Starting to Understand.

Griffin is starting to understand what Santa is all about.  Anything or anyone with red on, he will call Santa.
We have been telling him how he will leave him presents.  Today he told me that Santa is going to leave him cars.
It is so fun to see Christmas through his eyes.  I am so excited to see him on Christmas morning.  He is going to be thrilled.

Surprisingly Brave

Yesterday, Nolan had to have 2 cavities filled.  One of them was rather deep and the dentist was not sure that the tooth would not have to be extracted.  I am terrified of the dentist.  I have so much work that needs to be done but I am paralyzed by my fear.  Nolan is also fearful of all medical procedures.  I did my best to hide my fear.  We both had a couple of sleepless nights full of anxiety.
I thought he would not be able to go through with the fillings.  He amazed me.  He amazed himself.  He was so brave.  Even the dentist could not believe how well he did!

He did not have to have the tooth extracted but they had to put a nice silver cap on it.  You can't see it unless he opens his mouth really wide.  He told me he wished the filling was gold like all the movie stars?!?

I am so proud of him.  I wish I could get the courage he has and visit the dentist.  He has one more cavity on the side that will be filled in January.  I will not be as worried next time because I now know how strong he can be!

They Just Couldn't Wait.

The first (real) snow of the season
And they

Until daylight.

Acheiving a Goal{ie}.

This weekend, Nolan realized one of his dreams.  He has always wanted to be a hockey goalie and this weekend he had that opportunity.
He said he loved it {although he looked a little bored}. I prefer to see him skating around in the middle of the action, but he says he wants to be goalie again.
The equipment was really heavy {and difficult to put on} so he spent some of the time sitting on the ice in front of the goal.
He did a great job and blocked quite a few goals.

A Christmas Tradition

It has become a tradition.  Every year we decorate Christmas cookies.
We always have so much fun.  The cookies are delicious.
My sister is never here to make the cookies but always arrives in time to eat some.
We always have to make "Ashleigh" cookies special for her.  They are the ones with lots of frosting.
It is such a sweet tradition.

Christmas Randomness.

1.  Every morning we check for snow.  Although there has been no snow, there have been some beautiful skies.  We love the snow and hope to have a white Christmas!
2.  Clark has been finding some very creative, interesting places to hide.  Can you find him?
3.  The advent calendar has been a BIG hit in our home.  The boys love when it is there day to open the calendar.  And as I look at the calendar, I can't believe Christmas is so close.
4.  Griffin does not fully get what is going on, but he is excited about what he does understand.  When asked if he wants Santa to bring presents, he always says "yes".  He also had fun opening one his presents his brother got and wrapped for him.. oops!
5.  Nolan, per usual, is beyond excited.  He is coming-out-of-his-skin excited.  I hope we can make it til the 25th with all this energy!
6.  Trevor is his calm, cool, collected self.  Although I know he is very excited about the holiday.

7.  Me, well, I am starting to wondering how this is all going to come together.  I have baking to do, a house to clean, presents to wrap and shopping to finish.

Happy Birthday to me.

Today is my 36th birthday.  Thirty-six is a hard pill to swallow, but I am trying to taking it with grace.  After all, it is just another day, so happy birthday to me.

Goals!

Trevor played one of his best games in soccer last night and scored two goals!
Nolan and Griffin entertained themselves by having me take their pictures.  Cheeeeeessssse.
This morning Nolan scored a goal in hockey.
It was a good weekend in sports for the boys!

On the Camera.

This was our week according to my camera.
  • Trevor got hit in the face with a soccer ball and ended up with a big lip.
  • Our tree looks beautiful and has not been disturbed by little hands at all.
  • Clark, our Elf of a Shelf, made his first appearance of the season.
  • Griffin was happy to pose for one picture, but no more than one!
  • This is the beautiful site that Nolan and I woke up to this morning.
  •  Nolan had hockey at 6 this morning.  I was barely awake, but he played great.
Have a great weekend!

Griffin Update.

  • Griffin is doing great in his new school.  I am so relieved.  I used to dread picking him up because I would always be told how rough he was or how difficult he is {which he isn't}.  He always receives wonderful reports from his new school and he is so happy there.  I only wish I had moved him sooner.
  • Griffin vocabulary is really growing.  He is talking more and more and doing really well in speech.  He is really trying to articulate what he needs which is great.
  • Griffin loves the movie Wall-e, all things that move {cars, planes, trucks}, Buzz Lightyear, building blocks and reading books.
  • Griffin's attention span is increasing some.  He seems to spend more time on things instead of running from one place to the next. Another sign that my baby is growing.
  • This is the first year that Griffin is going to understand Christmas a little and I am so excited.  There is nothing better than seeing Christmas though a child's eyes, especially the first few years.  He understands there will be presents under the tree and when asked what he wants, he responds with Buzz {which he already has}.
  • Griffin had fun putting the ornaments on the tree.  I was a little worried that he would be playing with the tree everyday, but he has not touched it.
  • He loves his brothers and wants to do everything they do.
  • He is one of the sweetest, cutest, funniest kids I know {but I may be biased}.
