Big Boy Bed

Griffin is doing great in his new big boy bed. He usually wakes once in the night, but ends up going back to sleep (in his own bed). It is great. I don't think I (nor Rob) have gotten such good nights sleep in more than 2 years. He looks like such a big boy in his bed, but you will just have to take my word for it because I am too scared the camera will wake him. I am a firm believer in not waking a sleeping baby. He is even napping in his bed. Griffin, we are so proud of you. You are becoming such a big boy!

No School.

This morning when I saw school was cancelled due to power outages, I was a little disappointed. I had things I wanted to get done, things that would be easier without the boys around. The day ended up being great. Rob came home from work and worked at home because there was no power at his office. Daddy being home made one little boy really happy...... and Mommy happy, too.

Multi-tasking

Griffin has learned the fine art of multi-tasking. Today he had is lunch and a nap in his high chair. While eating lunch, Griffin feel asleep. I was so excited to just quietly move him from the high chair to his bed. Griffin had other plans... he was wide awake when I put him down! I laid with him for 30 minutes trying to get him back to sleep... not happening. I guess his 10 minute power nap was all he needed. He does not want to waste any of the day so napping and eating at the same time may be his latest way to extend his playtime! I am not liking this new idea at all!

Daycare

Tomorrow I will be meeting with a client all day... so for the the very first time, Griffin will be at daycare all day long. I am so nervous. I am afraid he is going to cry all day or be into everything or not nap. I am pretty sure he will do great, but I am a wreck! Daddy will be dropping him off which is good so I don't have to see the tears (I am sure there will be a few at good-bye). The babysitter will love him, look at him, how could she not! I have to keep telling myself he will be fine and he will be; We both will be.

February Vacation

So I realize I have not blogged in a week (and it has been noticed by my one of my three loyal followers... my mom). So here is an update. It has been a crazy week. The boys have been on school vacation, Rob has been in LA on business, Nana has been visiting and we have been busy.

I forgot my camera most of the week. We took the kids to a new bounce place in town. It was a lot of fun and the kids were able to release some energy, which was much needed! There was even a lot for Griffin there. We did a little shopping, played a lot of New Mario (we finally beat the game... a big accomplishment for the boys and me), did arts and crafts with Nana, watched some Olympics, had sleep overs and played some hockey.

Today we celebrated Papa's birthday with cake (lovingly decorated by Nolan)

played with some birthday balloons (yes, I am holding Trevor in a leg lock in order to get a picture).

Nolan is so proud that he can blow them up.

We are happy to have Daddy back home. It was great, fun, exhausting week. I am ready to see these two adorable boys

hop on the big yellow bus Monday morning and get this little cutie

back into some sort of routine.

End of an Era.

It is the end of an era in our home. There is no longer a crib in our home and there will never be again (until maybe grandchildren).
Griffin has a big boy bed and he is very excited about it. Hopefully when it comes to bed time, he will be excited about sleeping in it!
He got new bedding and new rug for his big boy room, but don't mind the appearance...the room is still in need of some decorating... it looks pretty stark! His room is going to have a nautical theme.
As I type, he is taking his first nap in his new bed and thus far all is going well.

And the good news is that I was not even that sad about putting it away. I am ready for this next phase.

Uh, Oh!

Griffin caused quite a little earthquake in his corner of the family room today.Luckily he was not hurt, but it shook him up a lot!

The dust and debris is all cleaned up.
And this little natural disaster has left no lasting effects on Griffin.

Maybe that is because Griffin is the disaster!

(I just have to add that he was not hurt at all, luckily the basket stopped the book shelf from falling on top of him. It is also amazes me that he did this. We have had this book shelf since Trevor was a baby and have never had any problems with it being pulled over. Leave it to Griffin.)

Newest Member.

Tomorrow the newest member of our extended family is coming home. We are so excited! More to come tomorrow...

Also this week, I got my first "real" pay check in 7 years. I recently went back to work on a very part time basis as an Human Resource Consultant. So far it is the perfect job. The job does not disrupt the kids schedule because if I am not meeting with clients, I am working from home.

Have a great weekend. We will be busy, busy, busy, as always. Hockey and Soccer and more hockey and soccer.

New Look

I. love. my. new. look.

I know it may be a little pink, flowery and girly for my masculine brood of boys, but it is my blog. And it is so me! I love pink and all things girly.

So, sorry boys, but do know that the content will still be all about you!

Thank you, Debbie for the perfect gift and thank you, Traci at Sweet Cheeky Designs for creating the perfect layout!

Passport

Today Trevor told me that he wants a passport so he can go to Peru. Why Peru? Only he knows. He also told me that with his passport, he may go to college in Ireland. Again, why Ireland?

I. love. this. kid.

He is so smart, forgetful, random, sensitive and kind. He is growing so fast and learning so quickly. A day does not go by that he does not amaze me with his knowledge or make me laugh from his witty comments. He is a great kid and I am so incredibly proud of him.

Simple Pleasures.

Today Kelly posted about simple pleasures... the simple things in life that make you smile. I thought I would post about some of mine.

Clean sheets

Witnessing my children being kind to one another.

Sunday Family Dinners

New socks

A clean house

A good book

A pedicure

Warm cookies

Fresh flowers

There are so many things in life to be thankful for and it is often the little things that get overlooked.

Griffin's 2 year stats.

Griffin went to the doctor's yesterday for his 2 year physical (I still can't believe he is 2). He is still a BIG boy, weighing in at 35 pounds. That puts him off the chart in weight. He is 35.75 inches tall, about the 80th percent. He also is one smart boy with lots of brains. His head circumference is the 100th percent. He is doing well. He is growing and progressing as expected. He will be having a hearing test in the near future to determine if he has any hearing loss from all his ear infections.

Griffin loves his brothers and thinks they are the funniest two people to walk the earth. He loves to eat. Some of his favorite foods are pasta, chips, pizza (without cheese), salsa, avocado, grapes and fish sticks. Griffin loves to look at books and be read to. He loves all things with wheels, balls and that make noise. He is an explorer getting into everything that he is not supposed to. He is a climber and has no fear of anything. He loves dogs. Griffin continues to love Blue and Little Einsteins. He is starting to talk more but he is very difficult to understand. Everything is on his terms, he does nothing on command. He is the happiest, most energetic little boy. He is the light of our lives and we are so grateful for him.

Weekend Recap

The highlight of the weekend was celebrating Griffin's second birthday (previous post), but we also went to a charity outdoor hockey event. The hockey event is put on by my neighbor to raise money for the local children's hospital. They have an great outdoor skating rink. Nolan was on the ice the entire time. We could not get him off. He loves hockey!
He had a blast playing with the local college boys hockey team and they had fun playing with him, too. They were so kind and fun.
Griffin even got on the ice for about 2 seconds.
Trevor spent the weekend in my bed. On Friday night, he had a temp of 105 (boy did this scare me!). Saturday morning I took him to the doctors. Strep throat. After 3 days in bed and many doses of antibiotics, Motrin and Tylenol, he is finally feeling better. He told us it is no fun being sick because you miss out on everything. Poor guy!

It has also been one year today since I started blogging. Last night I had so much fun going back through all my old posts. I am so happy I started recording the everydays of my family. It is amazing how fast the time goes and how much you forget.

Today I have Nolan home because he was up all night with ear pain. He will be going to the doctors in a little while to have his ears checked and Griffin is going too for his 2 year physical. The fun just never ends, ha!
