Griffin's Birthday

Since we are celebrating Griffin's birthday this weekend with a party, we decided to spend him birthday at the Children's Museum.  Griffin had a blast running from one area to the next.  He loved the diner area... this boy loves playing in kitchens!  I was not good at taking pictures, I was to busy feeling sick having fun!
After a fun morning at the museum and lunch, we took Griffin to Build-a-Bear.  His TG treated him to a cute little dog, a buzz outfit and a birthday outfit.  He was a little overwelmed by everything at Build-a-Bear, but he has been loving his doggy since coming home.

Now we are preparing for his little birthday party!

A Week of Griffin - Day 4

Two days until the big day and it is beginning to look a lot like Mr. Griffin's birthday.
Today, he got 2 special presents from a very good friend of ours.  He has been playing in this buzz lightyear spaceship all day long.  He loves it.  He also got a cute "Monkey George" stuffed animal that he has been carrying around when he can't be in his tent.
I decorated some cookies for him to take to school tomorrow.  He is going to celebrate turning 3 with all his friends at school.
It is the beginning of what looks like a week long birthday celebration!  Let the fun begin.

A Week of Griffin - Day 3

Today has been very busy and I am just now getting on the computer.  I have to post something about Griffin, because I don't want to disappoint all my loyal readers (mom and Debbie).

Griffin loves to be the center of attention but also has a very sweet affectionate side.  He can be dancing around the room then cuddling up to you the next.
He can be all over the place and into everything, but he can also be calm and play with one toy for quite awhile.

He can be so defiant one minute and so polite the next.
He is very stubborn and determined, yet at times can be so passive and easy going.

He is usually a very happy little boy, but when he is cranky... you better watch out.
He is all these things and more.  And to his family all this adds up to the PERFECT little boy!

A Week of Griffin - Day 2

I want to remember some of Griffin's favorite things.

Griffin's favorite book is "My Truck is Stuck".  We have read it to him so many times that now he likes to read it to us.  He also likes to read "Curious George" (or as he calls him Monkey, George), "Little Quack" and "Toy Story".
His favorite shows are "Bob the Builder", "Yo Gabba Gabba", "Diego" and "Dora".  His favorite movies are "Wall-e" and "Toy Story" (all 3 of them).

He loves Popsicles, spaghetti, pizza, fruit snacks and chips.
He loves to play with all vehicles (trucks, trains, planes).  He loves electronics.  He thinks he is a big boy playing the DS and the Wii.  He plays Just Dance, Mario Cart and Wii Resort.

He loves to dance and sing.  He imitates dance moves from tv shows, commercials and videos.  He has been singing along with songs and it is so cute.  If we try to sing too, he will put his finger to his lip and say "shhhh".

I like to think I am his favorite person, but he loves all his family.  He also loves his friends from school and talks the most about his friend Devin.
He loves to wear his snow boots and he picks out a different hat everyday.  He does not like to wear socks unless he has shoes on, too.

He likes to say "yes, please" and "no, please".  Lately, he loves to yell at us.

I know there is a lot I am forgetting, but this will have to do for now.

A Week of Griffin - Day 1

As a count down to Griffin's birthday, I am going to attempt to do a post a day about my sweet boy.
Griffin joined our crazy, wild family the only way he could, as a sweet, lovable, easy-going baby.  I think, for the most part (aside from the typical 2 year old behavior), he is still that boy.  He spends much of his time being taken here and there and everywhere!  He is such a joy to us all.  His brothers adore him.  I love to watch the interaction between the "big" boys and Griffin.
Griffin has taught me so much. He has taught me patience.  He has taught me how to slow down and he has reminded me about what is important in life.  I have learned to worry less about what others think or believe and to stand up for what I know and believe.  Thank you, Griffin, for being you.  We love you and (if we could) we would not change a single thing about you!

More Snow.

Okay, I am officially done
with the snow for the Season.
We have enough to last for awhile.
The kids love it,
But I have had enough
And I hear more is coming this week.

Naptime

Lately, Griffin has been very difficult to get down for a nap.  He asks for more and more books to be read to him.  When we finally say no more, he asks for the books in bed with him so he can read them.

Yesterday, I heard him on the monitor fooling around in his bed, but I was determined to let him get himself to sleep.  (We are very lucky, he always stays in his bed.)  He finally went to sleep and when I went to wake him up, this is how I found him.
I guess his feet were hot and his hands were cold.  Then when he woke up he must have forgotten what he had done because he could not figure out why his hands were all covered up.  He makes me laugh every single day.

Just Could Not Do It.

Today was the day.
The day that I get Griffin's hair cut short, and I mean short.  I feel so bad chasing around the house every morning with the spray bottle and brush trying to get the tangles out.  As I am trying to spray and brush, he is running the other way saying, "no, mama, no".  So today was the day, no more struggling to brush hair in the morning.
But I just could not do it.  I had every intention of cutting it all off but I chickened out.  I love his hair and I love it on the longer side.  We did get it trimmed (quite a bit) and cleaned up.  He looks so grown up.  Maybe next time I will be brave, but not today.  I just could not do it.

More Snow

We are getting more snow.
It is beautiful and I love the snow
but I think we may have enough for a few weeks!

One In Every Family.

In my family of 5, it is Nolan.  He is the one that will give me the most grey hairs and the most sleepless nights.

He is determined, stubborn and strong willed but also sensitive, affectionate and thoughtful.  He loves to be the center of attention and is the life of the party.  He knows how the story should go.  If the story does not end as he intents, it can be disastrous.  He is funny... so very funny at times.  He is unique and often does not care about what is popular.

Every morning we disagree about what to wear to school.  I prefer a collared shirt and jeans and he would rather wear exercise pants and a t-shirt.  Just yesterday he told me that he would like to have his nose pierced... not on the side but right in the middle... like a bull!
Oh, boy... I can only imagine what the teen years will be with this one.  I hope it will be better than what I imagine it to be!  Only time will tell.

Two

In TWO weeks...
we will say goodbye to TWO forever.
The days will be missed, but the memories will be cherished forever.

Rug Burn and Lots of Snow

Trevor received a nice little rug burn from his youngest brother.  They were playing on the carpet and this is the result!  I was a little nervous about what his teacher would think.
Now he has a nice red mark by his eye and his is limping around with a sore foot.  He is a wounded soldier right now.

And on a totally different subject, we have snow and lots of it.  It looks like I can actually make a basket if I stand on the mound of snow, haha.
It does not look like our plane will be taking off any time soon... or at least not until all this snow melts.
I do love the snow.  It is beautiful out and I hope the snow lasts for awhile.  I did hear a report of rain next week... I hope not.

Snow Day

It looks like a winter wonderland outside.
The blowing wind,
fast falling snow
and foot of snow under foot
make playing in the snow
nearly impossible!
We did not last long outside in this weather.

Chargers

I am so disappointed that Chargers did not make it to the post season
But their future looks promising

Back to the Every Days.

We are slowly getting back into the routine.  Back to work, school, daycare, soccer, hockey, meetings, house work and messes.  It is amazing how we went from free time to busy, busy, busy.
I already miss the holidays.  I miss the cheer and the time spent with family.  I miss the time just spent playing games and hanging with the boys.
All good things come to an end... and soon enough we will have another vacation and time to spend relaxing with family.  For now, we are back to the every day's.  And even though I so enjoy the holiday's, the every day's are pretty great, too!
