A Difficult Loss

Nolan's hockey team competed in a holiday hockey tournament this weekend.  They won all three of their scheduled games which secured them the second spot in the semi-finals!
The won their semi-final game by a landslide and advanced to the finals.
The boys were so pumped for this game.  They were beyond excited.  The team they were playing in the finals had won all of their games and by a large margin.  They also had a bench of at least ten players to our bench of 5.
The first period of the finals are boys played the defense.  The score at the end of the first was 1-0.  We were losing.
The second period our boys came alive and scored 2 goals.  The score at the end of the second was 2-1, us!
No score in the third until there was 5 seconds left and the other team scored, tying the game at 2-2.
In sudden death overtime, the other team scored and won the game.  It was a very disappointed loss.  There was not a dry eye in the locker room after the game.  I felt horrible for the boys, but the recovered quickly.  And bottom line, they played an amazing game.  I am so proud of Nolan.  He played hard, very hard!

Winter Wonderland

It has been snowing all morning long and unlike Christmas, the snow is really accumulating.  Rob just shoveled the walkway about 30 minutes ago and you can't tell now.
I have officially declared it a pajama day.  Griffin and I are cozy in the house.  Griffin is enjoying his new gifts.  I have spent the morning getting the house back to a before Christmas state.  I have taken all most of the Christmas decorations down.  Now my house looks bare and I need to get some inspiration for a Winter mantel.
The big boys are playing out in the snow with their friends.  I don't think they will last long because the snow is really coming down and it is windy!
C.C. is enjoying having everyone home and playing with her new Christmas toy.
I will be happy when my family members are all home from work safely.  It is so beautiful out and I am so happy to be forced to have a relaxed day.  I will enjoy it today because we have a big hockey tournament this weekend that will keep us really busy.

Christmas Day

Christmas was just perfect.

We were surrounded by wonderful family.
We enjoyed delicious food and

Opened thoughtful presents.
And as if the day was not perfect enough, a soft snow fell from the sky all day long.
It was a beautiful day.  And today I am just a little sad that it is all over.

A Letter to Santa {Griffin}

I loved Griffin's letter to Santa.
My favorite part is when he mentions his love for me! That will surely get him a few extra presents :).
I also love that he wants "people" to have gifts, too.
Griffin is getting really excited about Christmas this year.  Everyday after he opens his advent calendar, he counts how many days left until Christmas.  I can't wait to see the joy on his face Christmas morning.

SnOw Much Fun

We love, love the snow and have been looking forward to seeing the flakes fly for weeks now.
We were all so excited to see the blanket of snow when we woke this morning.

C.C was excited, too.  {Shh, don't tell her vet, she is supposed to be laying low until her bite heals}.  And those toe nails, don't you think they would look nice in pink?

Griffin and I went out to shovel the walkway, take pictures and have a snowball fight.  Griffin thought throwing snowballs was absolutely hilarious.  He would just giggle and giggle after tossing a snowball my way.
Trevor and Nolan were so disappointed school was not cancelled but thrilled that they had an early dismissal.  I got a quick picture of them before they were off to play with friends in the snow.
It really is beginning to look a lot like Christmas!!!!
And for you faithful followers {that like to complain when I don't post often enough} how about two posts in one day!!!

Cookie Decorating

One of my favorite holiday traditions is cookie decorating.
This year we had a reasonable amount of cookies to decorate {thanks Mom}.  In years past mom has gone way over board with dozens and dozens of cookies.
Griffin really got into it this year and decorated some cookies.

Trevor made a snowman with yellow snow and Nolan gets so into it that he ends up covered in frosting and sprinkles.

Ding and Dong {Kels and Ash} brought there best decorating skills and both were very proud of the results.
And what could be better to get you into the Christmas spirit than decorating cookies with Christmas music and snow gently falling out the window.

Sad Day

Today is a very sad day for our country.  I can't imagine the terror on those children's faces.  I can't imagine the unspeakable horror those parents must have felt as they were headed to the school.  I am sad for the families, the children, the community and the lost innocence. I am sad for the fear this puts in everyone's mind as this could happen to anyone, anywhere, anytime.  My heart is so heavy tonight.
I definitely will hug my boys a little longer and tighter.  I will say, "I love you"  to them one more time. My thoughts and prayers will be with all those touched by this horrific tragedy in the days, weeks and months to come.

Christmas Tour of Homes

Have I said how much I love this time of year?  I wish I had the time and energy to decorate every corner of my home.  I have some things I would like to do still, but may not get to it this year.
This is my favorite of our 5 trees.  This is our fresh cut tree from the tree farm.  This is the tree that our family gathers around with hot chocolate and mimosas to open brightly wrapped gifts.
We also have a tree in the boy's playroom.  The train makes many trips around this tree every Christmas season.  This tree needs some attention, but it is much better than last year thanks to some mess ribbon.  There is also a tree in each of the boys rooms.
Our mantle I just love.  I wish I had something for the mirror but I have not found the perfect thing yet.
Our stockings are hung on the entertainment center this year.  I am sure Santa will not be able to miss them when he comes down the chimney.

And other decor here and there through out the house.
Thanks for visiting from Kelly's blog and
Merry Christmas!
