This and That

  • Fall is in the air.  I have started decorating for the fall and I just love it.
  • We celebrated Rob's birthday last week.  The boys picked out a cookies and cream cake for him and we made him a special dinner.
  • This is the smile of a boy who was thrilled to have scored a goal in his last soccer game.  Nolan scored that goal with his LEFT foot.  This made daddy really happy!
  • Nolan scored his left footed goal on Silent Sunday.  This is a day that we only are allowed to clap, no cheering at all.  I may have accidentally let out a little squeal when he scored, oops :).
  • Trevor scored TWO goals in one of his soccer games this weekend.  He scored the first goal in the first 30 seconds of the game.  He almost had a hat trick.
  • CC is at the groomers today.  She really needs a cut.  I am so tired of her beard because she makes such a mess with her water.  I asked for it all to be shaved off.  Hopefully she will not look to silly.
  • The other parents on Trevor's team have decided I should not attend any of his games.  He seems to play much better without me there : (.  All the goals he has scored this season have been at games I was not in attendance.

Fun at the Fair

Gia and I took Griffin to the fair today.

He liked all the animals, thought the pigs and cows were very stinky and absolutely loved the bunny rabbits.

The rides were all fun.  He was so cute on the rides and since it there were no lines he had extra long rides.

It is always nice doing special things with just Griffin.  He is just so cute and sweet and TALKATIVE.  The boy never stops talking.
Thank you, Gia, for a great fair day!

The Apples of My Eye

Nothing feels more like fall then apple picking on a clear, brisk Sunday morning.

Today we made very quick work of filling our bags.

The trees were loaded with beautiful, delicious, shinny, red apples.

We have lots of apples.

I am looking forward to apple crisp and football (go Chargers!) this afternoon.

Bullets

  • Griffin called me on his way home from school today.  He sounded so grown up and sweet.  Oh, so sweet.  I wish I could record our conversation, so I could play it anytime I need to put a smile on my face.  Seriously, one of the sweetest little conversations I have ever had.  It ended with Griffin telling me "I love you all day".
  • Trevor is going to the middle school dance tomorrow night.  Crazy to think that he is old enough to go to a school DANCE.
  • Tonight the big boys and Rob are at the varsity soccer game.  The boys love to go and hang out with their friends while watching the game.  Again, so grown up:(.
  • Nolan is obsessed with bacon.  Trevor has a very fond affection for bacon, too.  Everything is bacon and according to the boys everything is better with bacon.  Well, that is until they boys had chocolate covered bacon.  Trevor loved it and still thinks bacon is the bomb.  Nolan...not so much.  He did not dig the chocolate bacon at all.
  • I also got the boys bacon flavored popcorn.  They have not tried it yet, but I am guessing it will be a hit with the boys.
  • Trevor had a follow up appointment from his ct scan today.  He is scheduled to have surgery in November.  More to come on that later, really don't want to worry about it too much yet.
  • Griffin told me tonight that if I washed his hair he would not grow.  Seriously, this kid will come up with anything to avoid a shampoo.
  • It is starting to feel like fall and I am so excited.  I can't wait to go apple picking!

A Soccer Weekend

I spent my weekend
on the sidelines of the soccer field.
Honestly,
there is no place
I would rather be!

I am not cute

As I was getting Griffin dressed this morning, this was our conversation:

Griffin:  Mom, please stop telling me I am cute.
Me:  But, Griffin, you are cute.
Griffin:  No, I am not a baby so I am not cute.
Me:  I know you are not a baby.  Trevor and Nolan are not babies and I tell them they are cute, too.
Griffin:  Just trust me, I am in Pre-K now and I am not cute.

Griffin, you will always be cute, you will always be MY baby and you will always make me smile and laugh.  I just love this boy so much!

Choletea...what?

Trevor has a cholesteatoma in his ear drum and has since 2009.  Lately there has been some changes to the "look" of the cholesteatoma.  With this change, we have gotten a second opinion on what should be done about it.  He has a slight decrease in hearing in this ear (right ear) since first discovering the choleseatoma.
The news is not great.  He will have a CT scan this Thursday (he also had one back in 2009) and most likely will have to have surgery.  Trevor was so emotional and upset about this.  Not that I would not expect him to be, but he rarely shows this much emotion about anything.  Poor boy, it just broke my heart in two seeing him so upset.

I am praying that we make the right decision about this, that his hearing is not affected and that Trevor will have some understanding about all this.

I just wanted to document this on my blog since it is the only way I document our lives.
