Like all years, there was some good, some great, some bad and some sad in 2013.

Somerset may be the highlight of 2013, but there is so much more that I am grateful for.

I am grateful. Grateful for the experiences and memories of 2013. Grateful that I have this new year to make the most of.

As we close out 2013, I will remember all the good and happy of 2013 and I will look forward to the adventures that await me in 2014.

A Weekend Full of Hockey

We spent the majority of the weekend at the hockey rink.
Nolan participated in a tournament. He had three games between Saturday and Sunday, and they won 2 and tied one.  This put them in second going into the semi-finals that started Monday morning.
Then Sunday afternoon, he had a middle school game.  They won that game!

Monday was the semi-final game. The boys played great!  They had many shots on goal against a difficult team. The game ended in a tie which lead to an overtime sudden death period. {It was very reminisant of the final game in this same tournament last year, where they were ahead the entire game only to be tied up in the last seconds. They then lost in OT.}  This game no goals were scored in sudden death so it went to a shoot out. Three kids were selected to play in the shoot out.  Nolan was one of them.  They lost after missing the first two shots because the other team made both of their shots. Nolan never got his chance to take a shot in the shoot out.
We were all so disappointed up in the stands. The boys fought hard and it was tough to lose in a shoot out. I was so afraid Nolan would be devistated.  He actually handled it really well. He was most disappointed that he did not get to his chance in the shoot out.
The boys should be proud.  They played hard and clean.
Way to go Huskies!

Christmas Day

I have put off doing my Christmas post because I just don't want to believe that Christmas is over.
Santa came and I would say that there were lots of good boys and girls in house by the amount of gifts under the tree.  Every year we talk about how we overdo it, but I think we all love it so much that there really is no other option.

Nolan was beyond excited to see a hamster under the tree, his #2 gift on his list.  He also got an iPad mini (#1 on the list), games, a new hockey bag (his broke 2 weeks before Xmas), a popcorn popper (big hit), personalized Bruins picture for his wall, clothes and lots other stuff too.

Griffin was so cute and thankful for everything he got.  He practically jumped for joy after each stocking stuffer and present he opened. Griffin got an iPad mini, a marble maze, games, an electronic dino, Carcade race track, basketball shoes, Wii and DS games and much more.

For Trevor, it was the year of music. He got Dre beats and a Dre pill with a funny stand for the pill, He got gift cards, indoor soccer cleats, a soccer ball, Walking Dead book and game and some other stuff as well.

It was a great Christmas spent with the family.  We relaxed all day, playing game and enjoying each others company.  We had a wonderful dinner of prime rib, lobster, Caesar salad and risotto.  {We just need to remember to get less prime rib and lobster next year. We had way too much food!}
And we enjoyed the entire day in our pajamas.  It was the first year we spent the whole day in pj's and it was great. I say it every year but there is nothing more to say other than BLESSED.  We are truly blessed.  The day was perfect.

This weekend we will be taking all the Christmas decorations down and I am always a little sad after Christmas.  It is my favorite time of the year and it just goes by too fast.  I will keep the memories with me and look forward to next Christmas.

Ice Storm

The ice looks so beautiful on all the branches and bushes.
I can say this because we have power and the storm has not effected us at all. I hope all those without power are warm and safe.

Snow Fun

Today after hockey and braving the craziness at the stores,
we spent the afternoon out it the snow.
It was a beautiful day.
Sun Shinning and 40's.
Griffin wanted to build a snowman

but first he had to partake in many a snowball fight. He thought it was so fun.  He could hardly throw a snowball because he would get laughing so much.
Finally, Dad did the heavy rolling and lifting of snow to make the {not so perfect} snowman.  I, of course, stood back with my camera and gave him orders. {The snowman was very disproportional!}

Even CC had fun in the snow.

Nolan likes to put the snowman's pipe in his mouth. He does this every. single. year. And who knows why he is wearing this wig.
It was a fun day in the snow. Now we cozy in the house awaiting an ice storm.
Electronics are charging and flashlights are out in case we lose power.
For all our sanity, please just be a quick little ice storm and leave us with power and heat!

Christmas Card and a Letter to Santa

Our 2013 Christmas card. Not my favorite but good enough after all the trouble I had getting a decent picture of the boys. It seems to get more difficult every year, but that is okay. I am thankful I have these three beautiful boys to put on the front of my card.
Griffin wrote a sweet letter to Santa.  He asked for a yo-yo, a fish, Skylanders Swap Force and something we can't read.  And what is so sweet, he wrote "I love my family and I hope you know".

I can't believe Christmas is a little over a week away. I purchased and wrapped most of the gifts.  Just a few more things to get and then it is time to relax and enjoy the season!

The Weekend

  • I had a wonderful birthday weekend with my family.  Thank you for making my birthday so special.

  • Nolan has 4 hockey games this weekend!  He had 2 yesterday and he has 2 today.  Yesterday, he scored 2 goals, wooohooo.

  • We thought hockey and Trevor's soccer may be cancelled today due to all this snow, but it looks like the snow is slowing down and I am guessing it will be games on.
  • Our elf, Clark, has been up to no good.  One day he was having a snowball {marshmallow} fight, yesterday he was hanging from the light in Griffin's undies and today we found him using the facilities in a coffee cup.  Someone is having way too much fun with the elf.
  • At hockey yesterday, we had 26 seconds of silence in remembrance for Sandy Hook. My heart is still breaking for those effected by this horrific tragedy.

Christmas Decorations

Welcome to my home all dressed up for Christmas.

The entry way.

One of my favorite decorations during the Christmas season is, of course, the tree. Every year, the day after Thanksgiving, we go chop down a tree with the whole family.

This year our tree is a little short (not a lot to choose from at the tree farm) and looks very similar to last years in regards to the decorating. I loved the look of my tree last year that I did the exact same thing. I did add a new ornament from our wonderful trip to Disney.

And the rest of our family room.  This is where we spend the majority of our time and my favorite room in the house.  Lots of wonderful memories are made here!

My kitchen.  I added the Eat, Drink and Be Merry plate this year and it makes me happy.
A little display on my kitchen island.  I love this little tree. I am looking for a white tree to put all my lenox snowmen on for my kitchen but have yet to find the perfect tree.  Maybe after the holidays.
The boys playroom tree is decorated by the boys and has a very random assortment of ornaments. New ones and ones they have made and ones from mine and Rob's childhood.  The train runs many circles around this tree each year.

The boys each have a tree in their room.  Nolan's is all decorated in none other than Bruins and hockey decorations. There are also a few of his favorites from his earlier years, too.

I did not get a picture of Trevor's tree because he was sleeping and I did not want to wake him.

But I could not help to sneak in on this sweet little boy to get a quick picture of him and his tree.

Have a very merry Christmas!
