Hockey State Finals

Nolan and his hockey team won two games and tied one making them the number 1 seed going into the state semi-finals.
They lost the semi-final game.  A very disappointing loss.  They outplayed the other team but lost in overtime.
The boys should be so proud of themselves.  They are the #3 team in the state out of 80 teams.
This accomplishment deserved a celebration.  Yesterday we had cake for Nolan.  Thanks Debbie for the adorable, delicious cake.
I am so incredibly proud of Nolan.  He is so dedicated to hockey.  He gives a 110% at every practice.  He practices at home in the basement.  He watches hockey games on tv.  He attends semi-pro, college and high school games.  He loves the sport and it shows.  It is so fun to watch him play.
With how much this kid lives hockey, it's a wonder that he was not born with skates on his feet and a stick in his hand.

The Perfect Snow

Every snow storm we have had {and we have had a lot}
Griffin has asked to build a snowman.  Well, today was the perfect snow for a snowman.
It is a beautiful, wet, heavy snow that is sticking to all the branches.  It is a winter wonderland.
We built our snowman.  Trevor, Rob and I rolled the head and body.  Griffin and Nolan decorated Frosty.
Then I tried to snap a picture of the boys with the snowman but my lens was wet and it did not turn out.  Big Bummer.
Frosty will probably be covered in snow soon since the flakes are still falling.
It was fun while it lasted.  Griffin can finally say he made his snowman.
And then the weight of the snow was realized as I attempted to shovel and Rob did shovel the front walk.

Insta Update

Nolan had a great weekend in his hockey tournament.  His team made it to the semi-finals!  I love what Rob posted on facebook.  The boys had a great weekend.  I am sad I was not there but happy that they had a "guys" weekend.  {The state hockey finals deserve a post of its own which will be coming.}
I spent the weekend in NYC.  Aside from spending the weekend with my favorite, favorite girls in the world, I ate the most delicious cupcakes.  Sprinkles Cupcakes, I am in love!! Seriously, the. best. cupcakes. ever.
I also got to see the best play ever!  My sister and I went to see Annie on Broadway.  If I had a bucket list, this would have been one of the top things.  I have loved Annie since I was a little girl.  The play was amazing.  Ash and I am planning our return trip to see it again {only in better seats}.
On the way home from NYC, we stopped in CT and saw the bench my mother had dedicated to my Grammy and Poppy.  It is lovely overlooking the water.  The bench is pushed up to the the massive amounts of snow, but still pretty in a great location.
Trevor, Nolan and I spent the day together.  It was so nice to hang out with my big boys without any fighting.  We went to the movies and saw Escape from Planet Earth.  It was a very cute movie.  It was very fitting to take my boys to since the movie was about brothers, and, yup, I cried.  Why do I always cry in these animated movies?!?
Trevor and Nolan had afternoon dentist appointment and both are cavity free.  YAY!

Hockey State Finals

It is a big, huge hockey weekend for Nolan.
Rob, Trevor and Nolan are headed up to Bangor.  Nolan and his hockey team, The Huskies Thrashers, are competing in the state finals!!!!
I am so excited for him and his team.  It is such a great team that has worked so hard to make it here.
Nolan, I am sad I will not be there to cheer my favorite player on but I know Daddy and Trevor will do a great job documenting the weekend.  Play hard, Nolan!  I love you! Love your biggest fan, Mom.
Good Luck Thrashers!!!!

Valentine's Day

I love Valentine's Day.  Not because I need a special day to tell my loves that I love them {I tell them that daily}, but because I love pink, hearts and red.
Today I had to show my boys a little Valentine's love with
loads of sugar, a sweet gift
and a delicious breakfast.
My four favorite boys showed me some Valentine's love.  Thanks for the pendant... I love it!
Have a wonderful Valentines Day.

The Weekend

We got a  TON of snow this weekend
{35.5 inches to be exact}!
In order to not go insane, we played lots of games, baked cookies and lounged around.

The snow stopped late Saturday afternoon and Nolan played in 3 hockey games bright and early Sunday morning.
We were out of the house by 5am, played and WON three hockey games and home by 9:30am.
Winning those three games put Nolan and his team seed 1 going into the finals for the tournament. And I have no pictures of the hockey games, I was too busy trying to stay awake and warm! They play again tomorrow and if they win, the team will be headed to Bangor to play in the state tournament.
Sunday afternoon we went out to shovel some.  We shoveled out the fire hydrant on the edge of our property, only to find that the plow had knocked it off its post.  The big fire truck was rolling down our street just as I was about to call them to let them know about the little plow mishap.  The firemen were so nice and young {they looked all of 15}!  I took the opportunity to prop Griffin up on the front of the fire truck for a photo.  He was not feeling it though, that truck is loud!!!
This morning I woke to this beautiful sunrise.  And now as I type this it is snowing again.  Seriously, I love the snow but we have enough!!!

Serious Snow

We have some major snow!  Thirty-three inches as of 8:30 am and it is still coming down.  Our town has the second highest snow fall totals in all of New England for this blizzard.
Yes, he did dress himself for bed.  And, yes, he has just as good a sense of style as his dad.
It is crazy.  I can't believe all this snow.  Rob and I just went out to shovel the deck, so the dog can get out.  I was waist deep in snow trudging through the yard to the deck.  Insane.  Thankfully the snow is light and fluffy.  The wind is blowing like crazy so there are some major snow drifts.
Looks like we will be hunkering down at home for the day.  Hopefully, we will be able to get out tomorrow.  Nolan may have some make-up hockey games tomorrow, I hope.  I will need to get out of the house tomorrow!
All things considered, this storm is fine.  We are all safely at home, have power and have no need to go anywhere.  I know some are not as fortunate. I was very sad to explain to Griffin that we would not be going to Disney on Ice when he asked first thing this morning.
Now to warm up after my morning shovel, drink tea and watch the news as history is made with the Blizzard Nemo of 2013.

Thoughts during Storm Nemo

  • I have never been in such a huge storm.  Twenty-four inches of snow in one storm is a lot of snow.
  • I am not sure how I am going to survive the next 24 hours stuck at home.  I am already stir crazy and it is just snowing; the blizzard has not even hit yet.  I think I will/can survive it as long as we keep our power {please, please}!
  • Griffin and I had a date to go see Disney on Ice tomorrow.  Unfortunately it has been cancelled and I sat on hold with the CCCC trying to figure out what I am supposed to do with my tickets.  After waiting on hold for 20 minutes, the phone starts ringing {I'm all excited that I am finally getting through} only to get a recording saying the box office is now closed.  Arghhhhh. I am going to have one disappointed little boy ;(.
  • The boys and I went out to shovel.  We are back inside now warning up and you can hardly tell we even shoveled.  Oh, well.
  • Nolan has a hockey tournament tomorrow.  His first game is supposed to be at 7:10 in the morning.  I'm sure this will be cancelled, too.  So, I will have two disappointed boys.
  • On the bright side, it is beautiful out and I will enjoy some down time with my 4 favorite boys!

After a handful of assists
and countless shots on goal,
Nolan {finally} got his first goal of the season.
He was so excited and so were we.
Hopefully this is the beginning of a scoring streak for Nolan!

Doctor, Doctor, Doctor

This could be the most boring post ever.  Fair warning.
Today both Trevor and Griffin had doctor appointments.  Trevor had a hearing test and follow up from his surgery.  He is doing great and his hearing is within normal ranges (YAY!).  He does not have to go back to the ENT for 6 months, which I am sure makes Trevor really happy.
Griffin had is 5 year old physical today.  The first think his doctor said was I can't believe he is 5.  See I am not the only one that can't believe how quickly the last 5 years have gone by.  Griffin weighs 46.4 pounds (80%) and is 43.5 inches (70%).  He is healthy and doing great.  He had to have two shots.  He was so brave but after the shots, he had is lower lip out and one lone tear slid down his face.  Just about broke my heart.  We went and picked out a toy to make it all better :).
The doctor commented on how we have not been in for awhile {we are frequent visitors with all the boys ear infections}.  After running our errands, I got a call from the school nurse at Nolan's school.  He was complaining of ear pain.  I picked him up and rushed him back to the doctors.  The doctor could not believe after our conversation this morning that I would be back the same day with an ear infection.  We decided we are never going to joke about it again.  Anyways, Nolan has lots of blisters in his right ear and it is definitely infected.  He is on antibiotics and hopefully will feel better really soon.
And I am exhausted by all the running around I have done today.  I should be back with a more exciting post soon.  It was a big weekend in hockey for Nolan, but I will save that for another day.

The Jake 5th Birthday

On Saturday we celebrated
Griffin's 5th birthday with a
Jake and the Neverland Pirates birthday.
Griffin was thrilled with all the fun, love and attention.
He was so thankful for all his gifts and after opening each gift gave a thank you and big hug.
All the celebrations are now over and Griffin is officially a five year old, the most precious, sweet five year old there is.
Griffin, you are one loved little boy!

The day he turned FIVE.

Griffin rolled out of bed on his birthday with a big smile on his face and proudly announced, "I am five!"  I, of course, tried to convince him to stay four.  Since I was unsuccessful, we continued the day celebrating a very special birthday.
For breakfast, a donut with a candle and a happy birthday to you!
At school, he celebrated by sharing cupcakes with all his friends.
After dinner, we had to celebrate with cupcakes and yet another happy birthday.
We will be celebrating with family, friends and Jake and the Neverland Pirates this Saturday.
I just love this five year old!
