{Another} Great Weekend at the Lake

I think there are going to be lots of lake posts in the coming weeks.
We went to camp this weekend to put the boat in the water.  She is resting comfortably at her new home.
We also did lots of work around camp.  Rob was a serious work horse.  I hope he starts to take some time to relax and enjoy this...
It truly is amazing.  The kids had so much fun.  The pure joy we all experience at camp is priceless.
I love this kid and the fact that he likes to take pictures {just like his mom}.

I love this kid and his boundless energy.

I love this kid and the fact that he thinks the boat is his personal dance floor.
I love this guy.  He is such a hard working, dedicated husband and father.
Fifty years from now, I know we will all be fondly remembering our long days at Long Pond.
Life is good, so good!

I was sad to close up camp and leave, but it helps knowing I will be back in 5 days for a week.  So looking forward to it.

Weekend at the Lake

We spent our first weekend at our camp on the lake.
It was absolutely beautiful.  I walked around in complete disbelief that we have been so fortunate to have the opportunity to spend our days there.

I keep reminding the boys that we have a lifetime to do all the things we want to do at the lake.
A lifetime.

It was very exciting to be there and the excitement, at times, was just too much for some of us.

Overall, it is was a good weekend and I am sure we will have many, many more fabulous times at the lake.

Lately...

  • Trevor is doing great.  He has little to no pain at this point.  He has spent a lot of quiet time on his computer, vita or in front of the TV.  That is all he can really do though.  He is not to do any physical activity for a month. Thankfully he is good at being calm and entertaining himself.
  • Griffin hopefully will be turning a corner soon.  He was great the day after surgery and we were so hopeful that he would not experience much pain.  Well on day three, the pain kicked in and he has experienced pain for all or a portion of each day since.  He hates the medicine and it is usually quite a struggle to get him to take it.  Today he begged me to give it to him and it was not even time to take it yet.  I am hoping this is the end of it and he will have this behind him really soon.  He has been so sweet even when he is miserable.  One huge blessing is that he has been sleeping really well at night!
  • Rob and I did get out for awhile yesterday to go to his cousin's wedding in Boston.  The venue was pretty, they had a 21 piece swing band and a food truck for the caterer {which was way cool}. I only wish it were about 20 degrees cooler.  It was hot {in the 90's} and humid and the wedding was all outside.
  • We brought Nolan home with us.  He had been at Nana's and Papa's since Tuesday.  We sure missed him.  The house is not the same without him. He had a great time with them and did lots of fun things: mini golfing, the aquarium, TD Bank Garden {where the Bruins play} and the zoo.  The life I tell you!  Thanks Nana and Papa for showing Nolan such a great time.
  • On our way home from Boston, we stopped at Sonic.  I wish there was one closer to us, or maybe it is good that it is not. It is so good.  Nolan had a peanut butter, bacon shake.  It was quite interesting.
  • We are so excited for this weekend!  We are moving our furniture into the lake house!  Wooo hooo.  We can't wait to be spending our free time on the lake at our new home!
  • Well, I think this post is sufficiently random and on the boring side, but wanted to document what has been going on lately...

Surgery Day {x2}

I have been dreading today.  Trevor and Griffin were both scheduled to have surgery.  It is hard enough to have one of your children have surgery, let alone two on the same day.  Also, Griffin had to have his tonsils out, which is a painful surgery.  I had it done as a child and remember how horrible it was.  Luckily {thus far}, it has not been as bad as I thought.  It has been a long day and there have been some tough moments, but now that we are home we are all feeling okay.
Griffin was scheduled for surgery at 9:15.  He had his tonsils out and his 4th set of tubes placed in his ears.  He was so brave going into surgery and the resident anaesthesiologist was amazing. He let Griffin play a Sonic Rush game on his iphone. Griffin was so distracted by the game that he easily went to sleep {huge blessing}.
He woke very, very agitated!  It was so difficult to see.  He was thrashing around and coughing and did not want anyone to touch him.  It was heart breaking for me and I tried my best to comfort him as tears streamed down my face.  After some more IV meds, he finally settled down and took a good nap on my arm.  He was great after waking from the nap. He watched tv and had some slushies.  After even more slushies, he got his walking papers and took the wagon with the cup holder {per his insistence} to the car and he and daddy were off.
Trevor was a trooper per usual.  He was nervous and apprehensive but handled it all with such bravery.  The IV went in on the first try and that made Trevor very happy.  I was with Griffin when he went off to surgery, but Rob saw him off.  It seemed like it took forever, but about two hours later, he was in recovery!  He woke with a lot of pain but was calm and patient.  Once we got on top of the meds, he was out of there.
We are all home now.  The boys seem to be feeling okay.  Both are tired and groggy but all is good.  I hope they continue on this trajectory and are back to themselves in no time!

Nolan is having a great time at Nana's and Papa's, but we miss him.

Play Ball

Griffin was chosen out of the crowd with the honor of announcing
"Play Ball"
at America's favorite past time.  It is such a sweet moment and I remember Trevor doing the same thing at about the same age.
Griffin announced very quickly proudly "Play Ball" to start the Sea Dogs game.  On the way off the field, he wound up his arm to high five the players as hard as he could.
Then when he was done announcing the beginning of the game, he did a little dance for all in the stands.
