Halloween 2013

We had a great Halloween with our traditional meatball subs, too much candy and lots of cute and some scary trick-or-treaters.
Nolan was a scary, I don't know what. He thought his mask was rather cool.  Me, not so much. He went out to terrorize trick-or-treat in the neighborhood with a friend of his.  He was big time since he did not have an adult with him and he came home with much, too much, candy.  Enough candy to last until next Halloween.
Trevor, last minute, decided to dress up as a gladiator.  Mind you it was 50 degrees out, raining and Trevor had next to nothing on.  He would not listen to my suggestion of wearing something under the costume and he came home very wet and cold.
Griffin was an adorable robot.  He had the robot dance down and it was cute! He is so excited about all his candy.  He was quick to give TG all the candy he did not like, which was all of 2 pieces.
I think by the tons of candy and the smiles on their faces, they had a great Halloween.  Hope yours was filled with lots of treats and no tricks!

Happy Birthday, Ash!

Happy, happy birthday to my sister
and my best friend!
I love you.

Pumpkin Carving

Griffin has been asking for days and days if we could carve pumpkins. Tonight was {finally} an unscheduled night, so we filled it with pumpkin guts and carving kits.

Griffin wanted a scary pumpkin.  Since I was helping him carve his pumpkin, I talked him into the very scary, one pumpkin difficulty bat.  He is thrilled and I much appreciated that it did not take a masters degree in art to carve.

Nolan enlisted the help of his dad.  Rob is the worlds fastest pumpkin carver {read between the lines: he does not have the pumpkin carving gene or the patience. He would rather be the DJ spinning some Halloween tunes}. Nolan's pumpkin is the grim reaper.  He is into all things spooky this year.

Trevor decided to carve his pumpkin himself this year.  He did a great job and only needed a little help.  He carved an open coffin.

Bring on the costumes and the candy, we are ready for Halloween!

Checking In

I know broken record, but we have been so busy.
With hockey starting before soccer ending makes for a very full schedule.  Nolan has started hockey on two teams this year.  He is playing on the middle school team and for the Huskies as a second year squirt.
Soccer should be coming to an end soon. Trevor's team is in the playoffs and they need to win the game tomorrow to advance to the next round. Is it bad that part of me would not mind if the lost? I really do hope they win though. I know Trevor is really hoping for a win. Nolan has 3 games at the end of the year festival on Sunday.
Today we had Trevor and Nolan's conferences. It is so nice to hear they boys are doing well.  Both are head of where then need to be and are great kids in school.  Nolan's teacher sees him as one of the leaders in the class and wishes he gave himself more credit for what he is capable of.  Trevor is doing great in all his classes.  Algebra has been a little more challenging then he his used to but he is doing well.
Nolan and I are making a quick one night get away to camp tonight.  Here's to hoping there are still brightly colored autumn leaves on the trees.

Under the Lights

Griffin was so excited, like coming out of his skin excited,
to perform the half-time show at the varsity soccer game
under the lights.
This is such a huge deal for these little soccer stars. Griffin was thrilled to take the field to show off the fans his fancy foot work.
He is loving soccer. He looks forward to Saturday's so he can play. I think we will have one sad boy when the season ends.

Clifford Comes for a Weekend Visit

Griffin's class has a Clifford the dog stuffed animal that rotates through the kids for a weekend with them.

This weekend was Griffin's turn to bring Clifford home and, boy, was he excited. He told me we had to do something fun with Clifford every day.
We started Friday night with ice cream.
Saturday we had soccer so Clifford had to cheer on Griffin and his brothers at their games.
After soccer, we went to the pumpkin patch with him. Griffin even got a little pumpkin for Clifford.

Sunday we forgot to do something special with Clifford. He did help Rob vacuum his car out. He also got to watch some more of the big boy's soccer games.
On Monday, he went to the car dealership with us.  Griffin loved this convertible.  He does not understand why we can't buy that car {not so family friendly}. Clifford enjoyed going for a spin in it with Griffin though.

Nolan loved having Clifford. He found it a good excuse to get to get ice cream.
We had to document his weekend with pictures.  Clifford was a good house guest.  I know Griffin looks forward to having him come to our house again.

Disney {Day 6}

This was our last full day at the happiest place on earth. The boys were so sad, they wanted to stay for another week or two.  Rob and I were kind of sad too.  It was such a great vacation.
We headed back to our favorite park, The Magic Kingdom.  With our adorable tour guide,
we took a one final spin on all of our favorite rides.

Late afternoon, we said goodbye to the Magic Kingdom and all of our favorite Disney friends and headed over to
Downtown Disney to do a little shopping.  The kids got their final souvenirs and we had a {horrible} dinner at Planet Hollywood.
After shopping, we took the boat ride down the river back to our resort.

With happy faces, we went to bed at the Alligator Bayou for one final time.

We were up early the next morning for breakfast and the shuttle back to the airport.  The trip was better than I could have imagined.  It was truly magical!

Disney {Day 5}

We woke bright and early to wait for the shuttle spent the day at
Hollywood Studios!
I thought Hollywood Studios was very cute.  We really enjoyed this park. Two of our most favorite rides were at this park.
We started the day by meeting Daisy. Griffin loved all the characters but seemed the least interested in Daisy.
We fast passed the Aerosmith ride, Rock and Roller Coaster, but when we got there we were a few minutes early for our fast pass and the line wait was only 20 minutes.  After Nolan got his courage {he was not sure about this ride} he got in line with Trevor and me to rock out with Aerosmith.  The line was much longer then the promised 20 minutes. Rob and Griffin were seated for the Beauty and the Beast show when we finally got off the ride.  Since we knew we would not be able to sit with them for the show, the big boys and I decided to catch the limo again for another ride on the Rock and Roller Coaster. Because really who wouldn't want to take off at 60 miles an hour for a upside down corkscrew with wind blowing at you and Love in an Elevator blaring in your ears {twice}.  The ride was a lot of fun.  One of Trevor and Nolan's favorite, if not favorite.
We took a tour through the back lot of Hollywood Studios. We got to see some of the planes from the movie Planes and
watch a set flood.  Nolan was laughing as the water came roaring towards him.
We also got a good view of the Disney water tower. Of course, it is has ears!

Our other favorite ride was Toy Story Mania.  It was so much fun, so much fun that we fast passed it three times. This ride had a rediculous wait time so we were lucky to score three fast passes to use on this ride.

We had a chance to visit our friends at MU. It was a little disappointing to Griffin that the Monsters don't autograph. {Disney needs to work on this... seriously, Buzz stamps the autograph book, can't Mike and Sully stamp, too?}
Griffin also gave two thumbs up to Lightning and Mater.

We had dinner at Hollywood and Vine with the hopes of meeting Jake and the Neverland Pirates.  Unfortunately, Jake does not make an appearance at dinner.  This was quite disappointing because we never caught up with Jake. The food here was also disappointing... not good at all.  We did get tickets to the Fantasmic show with special seating.

This show was great.  We were in the second row and got a little wet but the effects, fireworks and characters were fun to see all in one place.
We really enjoyed this park.  It was definitely our second favorite park with two of our all time favorite rides!

Disney {Day 4}

We started the morning having breakfast at Chef Mickey
with some of Disney's most beloved characters.
Mickey,
Minnie,

{Griffin's favorite of the fab five} Donald,
Goofy
and Mickey's loyal dog, Pluto.

Mickey shaped waffles and napkins waving in the air made this morning very memorable!
After breakfast, we headed back to the boy's favorite park for another go round on some of our favorite rides.

We had the opportunity the hang with some of our favorite toys, Woody and Jesse. I love that Griffin has Woody by the hand...too cute!

And what luck, while Rob and the big boys were on rocketing above Tomorrow land, Griffin and I ran into his all time favorite, Stitch.  He had been looking high and low for him so we were quite fortunate to meet up with him.

We left the park around dinner time to head back to our resort for some swimming. It was a perfect end to a great day... the boys splashing around while I had a cocktail at the pool bar.
