Weekend Recap

  • Big surprise, the weekend was spent at soccer and more soccer.

  • Nolan played in three play-off games. Although they are not advancing to the finals, they had a great team. The boys played hard and had fun.
  • Trevor won both of his play-off games this weekend. They have move play-off games next weekend. If they keep playing like they have been, they will likely play in the finals.
  • Even though all the soccer was great fun, the weekend was a very tough one for me. My step mother lost her battle with cancer. I will always remember her telling us "We'll see", something I find myself saying to my boys quite often. She had beautiful pale skin and an wonderful singing voice, often singing Disney songs.
  • It was a beautiful fall weekend and the trees are just spectacular.

  • Today I had Griffin's first 1st grade parent/teacher conference. I am so incredibly proud of my sweet boy. He has mastered math and has already met the years requirements for math. He will be starting 2nd grade math work really soon. He is doing great in Language Arts, too and is ahead of where he should be. He is a hard worker and a respectful friend. My heart just explodes with pride.
  • And while I am bragging, on my way home from the conference, I got a text from Trevor that he got a 95% on his honors geometry exam.  So proud!

Soccer Weekend {Trevor}

Trevor and his team also competed in a soccer tournament this weekend.
They lost two games and won one.
Trevor had a beautiful assist. Then on the bench he got a bee sting in his hand.
His hand swelled up but he jumped back in the game and played really well.
His team did not advance to the tournament finals, but it too was a great soccer weekend for Trevor.

Soccer Weekend {Nolan}

Nolan's team competed in a tournament this weekend.
They had three games
and they {unfortunately} lost all three games.
They played well and hard! They just happened to play some really strong teams.
Nolan got three assists. He played aggressively like always, but also seemed to get quite rattled by some of the other players.
Even though the outcome of the games could have been better, we had a great soccer weekend.

Soccer Weekend {Griffin}

We started our weekend of non-stop soccer with
Griffin's game this morning.
It's pretty cute to watch this age group play soccer. They run together in a herd.
Griffin loves that he has his turn to play. He thinks he is big time.

He tends to be a little on the aggressive side, but he learned it from the best - his big brothers!
Rob is the coach and he has to be a saint. I could not do it for 2 minutes. It seems a lot like herding cats. And he just said how much he loves coaching that age group. Bless him!
C.C. got to cheer Griffin on.

Griffin headed up to camp with TG and Gia, while the boys Rob and I are headed to a tournament - 6 games over the next two days and if they do well, playoff games on Monday.

Varsity Soccer Half Time Show

Griffin was beside himself excited to show off his mad soccer skills
at the Varsity Boy's Soccer Game.
I mean what can be better dribbling, throwing balls in the air and waving
in front of a big crowd in the bleachers.
Griffin had a blast. Too bad my camera did not like the lights and was not very cooperative of me wanting to get pictures of my little guy on the big field.

It was a fun night. Trevor was the ball boy for the game with one of his soccer buddies. Nolan was all over the place with his friends and Griffin was hyped hanging with all his teammates.

Soccer {Trevor Starts}

I finally have a new camera lens {yay!!!}. I can finally take pictures again.
Today was a great soccer day for Trevor.
After months of hard work, he started the game today.

He played aggressive and hard.
Although the score did not reflect the teams hard work,
we are so proud of Trevor and his team.

The team played their last regular season game. Next weekend they play in a tournament and then playoffs start. The season has been quick but fun. Trevor has increased his confidence and has become a much more aggressive, hard working player.

Bruins Game {Nolan's birthday present}

Rob, Nolan and I headed into Boston for the Bruins Game.

After a few appetizers, Nolan could not wait to get to the Garden.
He needed to head straight to the Pro Shop, because he could not live another minute without a foam puck head. With the puck head and a few other purchases (shirt and foam claw hand), we headed to our seats.

Our seats were two rows behind the Red Wings bench. Amazing seats. We were so close to the players on the bench that if there was not glass between us we could have had a conversation with them.

The game was so much fun. The Bruins were down 3-1 but came back to tie it up.
Nolan was on the big screen above the ice.
Bergeron scored a hat trick, woohooo. Many hats were tossed on the ice. And when a Bruins player scores a hat trick, all the hats in the Fan shop are 30% off. Nolan headed straight to the Fan shop to get a hat, along with half the fans. We got there quickly, made our selection and beat the crowd.
The game ended in a tie, but that was all good. Nolan was hoping that it would go to OT and a shoot out, which it did. Unfortunately the shoot out did not end in the Bruins favor, but nothing was going to wipe the huge smile off of Nolan's face.
And no trip to Boston would be complete without a trip to Sonic. So after grabbing a few shakes for the boys and a cherry coke zero for me, we were on our way home.

We had a wonderful afternoon. One I am sure Nolan, nor I, will ever forget.
As a matter of fact, Nolan was probably dreaming about it when he fell asleep.
